When I was a kid, I woke up on Saturday mornings to the sound of my mom's hand-held mixer, as she mixed up batter for this crazy sponge cake, which literally looked like a a giant sponge. We were too poor for a fancy stand mixer, so my mom would tie the hand-held to something and let the thang whir away while she multi-tasked. All that to say...when you need something to work badly enough, you figure it out.

Many years ago, we went to the U-district street fair, and parking was so bananas, we wound up in the residential area where all the professors live (or at least that's what I like to imagine), and I happened upon a fantastic yard sale where I found some julep cups. So I bought them, and then it was onward to the fair, and I'm hanging on to these silver cups because I didn't have a bag, and we ran into some friends, who promptly started making fun of me for bringing my own "pimp cups."

My old co-worker told me a story of her sister who wore a wig to school and at the end of the day, the wig shifted 10 degrees to the left and became lop-sided. I told her...hell, that's how my real hair looks by dinner time!

This is Davey.


We took a walk the other day and met a man called "Keith" who walked with a bit of a pimp limp though severe enough, I think he may have been capped in the knee in his youth - some day, I shall find out what really happened. Davey has a bad habit of barking at strangers which I am desperately trying to mitigate. Keith was really patient with Davey and after he stopped barking we wound up walking a short distance down the street together, which helped Davey realize that human beings are cool. Keith walks his beautiful little girl to the bus stop every morning. As a training technique, he invited us to swing by the bus stop regularly for Davey to get accustomed to seeing new people.

Le Trunk Show

Thanks to everyone who came to support the trunk show at the Soho Coffee Co on Sunday. And a big up to the Soho Coffee Co for letting us set up shop for the afternoon.
