Bad Lashes/Good Lashes

At Lady Lam, lash extensions are carefully applied by isolating one natural lash, and then applying an extension on that lash. In some cases, I'll apply an extra extension to create a flared-out effect in areas where lashes might be naturally sparse in order to create the illusion of fullness. Ultimately, your natural lashes remain healthy and strong because of precision application.

A colleague shared this photo of a botched lash job.

From a distance this might look attractive - it's so rich, and dark...but when you look carefully, notice there's too much glue which results in multiple natural lashes being clustered together which eventually leads to severe damage and gaps in your lash line. Also, there are visible clumps from the glue and the lashes are going every which way. In many cases this would hurt when you blink.

A properly executed full set of lashes ought to look like your own (but magnified for length and volume).

You Really Know How To Live

I went to Crossroads Mall a few weeks ago and stopped in at "From Russia With Love" and ordered a small scoop of salmon roe and enjoyed my treat inside the food court. A lady asked where I got it and then she said..."You really know how to live!" Thank you!

The End Of The World (Skeeter Davis)

Skeeter Davis

I was enjoying lunch at Plum Delicious in the Renton Highlands with my friend Kristine from Foothills Massage Therapy, when The End Of The World came on. While talking with Kristine, and quietly freaking out about the song, which at the time, I had no idea who sang it, our waitress Cora came out of the kitchen and was like..."Who sings this song?" Maybe she heard me talking about Pink Floyd, and thought I was some music afficionado...but I turned to Cora and told her I'm trying to figure that out too!! And then the nice man sitting a few tables away from us overheard us, and got on the phone and consulted his wife, who was apparently at home, sitting beside this nice man's sizeable vinyl collection, and he asked her to peruse the archives. He jotted down the song title and artist, written in a way that only a Boeing engineer could and walked over to our table with the data, so now we know!

Vintage Sears

This is probably one of the ugliest shirts I own, (and I own many) - but it's interesting, no? I like the bateau neckline. The colors and design remind me of stained glass church windows.

Glycolic Peel

A glycolic peel is one of many ways to exfoliate the skin in order to remove the dead epidermal layer, revealing a smoother surface that reduces fine lines and ultimately reveals a more youthful glow. Peels are recommended on a regular basis to combat congested skin. A glycolic peel is comfortable and most people feel a temporary warm, tingling sensation as the product activates on the skin - and then the feeling goes away after the skin is neutralized with water. If you've never experienced a glycolic peel, please book the session far in advance of any special event because temporary redness is a common result that can last up to a few days.

The Graduate (1967)

This is one of my favorite movies of all time. Mrs. Robinson's chunky blonde streaks are tres sexy, both her and Elaine's wardrobe is amazing and I love the way Mrs. Robinson handles that garter belt. If it were me, I'd have huge tears through them in a heartbeat from all my hang nails. My favorite scene is when she throws Benjamin's keys into the aquarium. I visited the Berkeley campus a few years ago, and I looked all over for the crazy water fountain that was in this movie and I couldn't find it anywhere on this campus. I even stopped by the visitor center to ask where in Sam Hill is this thing and they were like..."What's the Graduate?"

I have just one word Benjamin...Plastics.

Style A to Zoe

I was watching the Rachel Zoe project with DJ E-Rok, and he said, "Who wears a fur vest and 800 rings on her fingers to the office?"
Ok, first of all, she's at home. Second, it's Rachel Zoe, and that's her job to wear crazy things and third - don't hate! So jealous.

My beautiful client Jennilee inspired me to check out her book from the Seattle Public liberry.

Baubles

One of the great style icons in American history is Madame. She really knows how to rock out her baubles. When I was a kid watching the muppet show, I wanted to be just like her. There was something romantic about her silky chiffon outfits, I loved the way her hair was tied into a perfect chignon, I liked her saucy ways, and her grand arm gestures allowed all of us a quick glimpse of her blingy rings. But as it turned out, in my adult life, I'm more like one of these two losers:

Broken English

I love the movie Broken English by Zoe Cassavetes. And my favorite scene is when Nora gives her boss the middle finger as she quits her job and heads back to her apartment, but along the way, she passes a psychic healer's storefront, and the lady comes out of her shop and says, "Your father loved you..." After drying up my tears, I looked up the costume designer to find the genius behind Nora's wardrobe, and the kind woman wrote back exactly 3 business days later and said it was mostly done by Built by Wendy.
