I was once a bus girl at a fancy Seattle restaurant. Much focus was placed on atmosphere: fresh flowers, the right lighting, the fragrance of the dining area, and I was taught to preheat the coffee cup with scalding hot water before serving guests to prolong the warmth. And we never went around asking, "ya wanna refill on your drink?" NO WAY. It was more like, "Mr. Soriano, may I refresh your beverage?" How the hell can one resist a question like that?
