I discover music in weird ways. Shopping at Orange, boutiques along Robson Street in BC or standing outside the Y Grocery drinking Hennessy-infused orange Slice. I DVR Subterranean - and I jotted notes on this artist named Kid Cudi who was so unknown, the folks at Easy Street thought I was lying when I asked for this man's music last year. Alas, he resurfaces - but this time on the MTV Hits Playlist on channel 472 (right after Lady Gaga) - which tells me, this guy might be going mainstream, (kind of like that shampoo we used to buy exclusively at the salon, but can now be purchased at Costco) so I'm compelled to get his music out of my system. I've been replaying this song from 7am and will do so til the time I must leave for the atelier, sacrificing my need for liquids and a bowl of oatmeal. It will be worth it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VkSq2Zn2XoY

Happy Hounds
I take Miki to Happy Hounds for grooming. You probably can't tell but Miki is a "senior" dog, not sure how old she is but she's definately eligible for an AARP subscription if they mailed to dogs. So, one of her elderly traits is she goes into her kennel and hangs out backwards, like, she's facing the backside of the kennel where there's NOTHING to look at. When I went to Happy Hounds to pick her up, she was in the kennel, sitting backwards like usual and Gail and I were just cracking up. I said to Gail, that's going to be me in 20 years. Gail says, "That's going to me in five years!" And then, John (her help) who's got grey hair, and is super cool says, "I'm already there!" It was a good laugh.

Cell Phone Recommendations?
Folks, this is why it takes me 10 years to text back a reply. I'm still on my third word when you're on your 2nd text page requesting an appointment. Thank you all for bearing with me. I will one day become a professional texter as soon as I upgrade to a modern phone. I know you want to take this phone and hit me upside the head with it. I want to hit myself with it!

First Lady
This type of rose is called "First Lady" and I love the pink/green gradient shades that give so much life to a room. I found these at the "Top Of The Hill" produce store on Jericho street.

Chicken
Chef E-Rok prepared a slow-smoked chicken using a dry rub in the outdoor grill. The result is fork-tender meat and a subtle, smokey flavor.
Caprese Salad with extra virgin olive oil
Some bread, Fred?

Lash Extensions Are Transformative
My beautiful client Maureen received lash extensions recently. Her natural lashes are healthy and strong, and then I augmented them:
It was as if this sleeping beauty rested her head only for a moment to wake up with these plump lashes.

Lash Extensions Are Glamorous
My beautiful client Susan visited and she went from this...
to this...
So HOT
And we might try a longer length next visit. But in the meantime, Susan is rocking this out nicely.

Farewell Renton Thriftway
I knew the Renton Thriftway was eventually closing for good, and therefore liquidating all their inventory, but I had no idea to what extent, so when I went there to pick up some cheese it was really slim pickins:
Alright then. Maybe I'll walk to the other side and see what kind of seafood they have. Right? Wrong.
Why am I here? As I made my way towards the exit, I deliberately walked through the place where you can sit and eat, and look out the window and laugh at the terrible drivers. I used to work nearby at the Triton Towers. It was the spot of many good conversations with co-workers. We mapped out deviant plans here. We bought beers and drank it in the parking lot here. Many moments avoiding real work were spent here. Many memories. So I continued walking toward the exit and did a double take - the small microwave, oooh I want it. The manager and I negotiated on a good price and this useful piece of equipment that so many loyal Thriftway customers used for heating up burritos is now mine. Good luck and farewell to all the kind employees at Thriftway, thank you for being so cool.

Eyelashes are the new "breasts" - Everyone's Getting Enlargements
While she's digging through her Hermes bag to fish out the keys to her Maybach, you look at her lashes and ask yourself...Are they real? Do they stay like that in the shower? Would she shower with me? Is it humanly possible to always look this hot?
She finally finds them, thanks you for the cocktails and smirks as she accidently drops them square between her Manolo-clad feet. You bend down to grab the keys, and as you bump your head on the table coming up, she bats her lashes at you and says..."Thank you, darling. Care to join me for a night cap?"

Miki at Lady Lam
While listening to some Public Enemy before the next client, Miki and I decided to replicate the famous photo of John John playing under the desk at the oval office.

Widow's Peak
My friend Saya says this illustration reminds her of me. I think it's because of the widows peak. Did you know I'm related to Count Dracula? I vant to go to Valmart!

Cheong Saam Journal Cover
I keep a journal to document important (or even mundane) details of my day. Here's a close-up shot of my current journal cover. It reminds me of a cheong saam.

What's in your purse?
Don't you ever wonder what's inside a woman's purse - is she carrying an AK-47 and some ammunition and some altoids? A lady never reveals what's inside her bag, but we've all taken a quick passing peek inside and you just have to wonder...why are you carrying around masking tape and lighter fluid? What are you doing with tube socks?
My bag is never quite that interesting, as is my desk drawer

Watson Kennedy
Everytime we end up at Fado to watch an Arsenal match, I must get a greyhound or a bloody mary and then at halftime walk up the street to Watson Kennedy to pick up a small treat for the studio. These little placecard holders are so elegant, no?

Yuka Visits Lady Lam
My beautiful client Yuka requested a look that wasn't terribly obvious, so we decided on a "mascara" look to essentially thicken and lengthen by just a smidge. And Yuka can decide if she wants them a little longer on her next visit!
Here's my work in progress after I applied only a few extensions.
Here, you can see a fuller, more volumized set of lashes that replicates a mascara finish.
Yuka gave me this gorgeous paper fan. I love the illustration and the pretty face on this little lady. This is the look I flash at the guy behind the counter at Schuck's when I need help replacing my wiper blades.
It's called free installation.

Hamburger Madness
Just a half block north of SODO Costco on the same side of the street, Hamburger Madness is the bomb! The menu is abundant and fun, and there's something for everyone. My favorite is the bacon cheeseburger, and while I waited for my masterpiece, I enjoyed a cold one while taking in the view.
