Orange On Broadway - Tacoma, WA

You have to visit this place. It's a small shop but they've carefully edited their merchandise to bring you only the most modern-looking, authentic vintage. Things are well-constructed, I love the unique manipulation of fabric of older clothes. And recycling is nice.

This shift dress has pockets along the seam, and it zips in the back. Notice women don't ask gentlemen to unzip them anymore? Or if they do, I don't know about it because I reckon it's usually behind closed doors. But I do think that women are so modern and with all the yoga around us, we can manage just fine unzipping ourselves because I had no problem. I'm just sayin...

I knew this blouse was mine once I laid eyes on it. The draping is relaxed, the puckers are all in the right places-adding visual interest and good movement to the garment. It's a refreshingly unique look when paired with some Nike trainers and some velour pants. Look at bands such as Oasis and Spacehog. This shirt makes me want to pop my collar all day long!

Check out this crazy dress. This is an ode to Mrs. Allenkoff who was my across-the-street neighbor on Beacon Hill. She wore colorful, bold-patterernd dresses all the time. She was about 63 years-old, I was about 5 and she served me rum balls! I loved her for that - and for many other reasons, such as letting me apply her Chanel no. 5 on my wrist. But I bought this dress because it reminds me of her. It zips in the front with square pockets for all the spare change I try to collect off the ground in my parking lot.
